Three 'Amazed'

Study Passage : Mark 6

Point of the Passage [개요 혹은 요약]

1-6

When Jesus taught in the synogogue in his hometown, they were amazed at his wisdom and miracles. However, they dishonored Jesus. Jesus, saying that a prophet is without honor in his hometown, was amazed at their lack of faith.

7-13

Jesus taught in many villages, callling the twelve and sending them two by two. They were supposed to take only a staff and sandals, to stay in one house and to shake the dust off their feet when they left the unwelcoming town. They preached, drove out demons, and healed the sick.

14-29

King Herod said Jesus was John he had beheaded has been raised again. Herod had arrested John who had been saying that it was not lawful for Herod to take his brother's wife, Herodias. Herodias wanted to kill John, but she couldn't because Herod acknowledged John was righteous. However, when Herod pledged to do whatever Herodia's daughter asked after her dancing, she asked John's head immediately directed by her mother. John was beheaded and John's disciples came and buried him.

30-44

The apostles reported to Jesus their preaching. Jesus went away in a boat with the twelve for rest. But many came there ahead of them. Jesus, compassionate, taught them. When the disciples requested Jesus to send the crowd to eat, Jesus told them to feed them. Jesus, after taking five loaves and two fish, prayed and had the disciples distribute them. Five thousand men ate and twelve basketfuls of bread and fish are left.

45-52

Jesus went to a mountainside to pray parting from the disciples and the crowd. Seeing the disciples straining at the oars at dawn, Jesus came to them walking on the lake. The disciples were amazed.

53-56

In Gennesaret, many people who touched Jesus were healed.

Problem of the Passage

Verse Question
8 Why did Jesus not allow the disciples to take bread, bags, and money and even extra tunic when they preached?
all How do the miracles Jesus showed demonstrate Jesus' deity?
- Healing the sick, feeding five thousands only with five loaves and two fish and walking on the lake. Suprenatural power against the law of nature, above the law of this nature. Jesus is not under the law of the creature. He is above it. The bible teaches Jesus himself is the Creator (John 1:1-3)

Profit of the Passage

Jesus is the King, the Messiah and above all authority in heaven and earth, the maker of the law of nature. The twelve had the privilege to follow him and learn from him near at hand. The disciples were always accompanying Jesus when he went to a place. Jesus mainly focus on training the twelve, who later will teach instead of him. Jesus shows how we can draw God's power to fill people's needs through prayer. After he fed many people, he also went to a mountainside alone to pray.

I am so weak in learing Jesus through the Scriptures. I have to followe Jesus much closer to him. Reaidng the words everyday is one of the process of following Jesus and learning from Him. I have to make this time more dynamic when God is free to teach me, and when God gives me great instruction necessary for that day.

One hour after lunch, I will read the Bible accoring to 'once-a-year reading plan of the Navigator'. I will stick to it. I pray that this time will give me great insight and pleasure of understanding God's wisdom, will, and instructions for me.
